Sometimes I get my ideas for a post by using the search engine terms. One of my friends pointed this part of the dashboard out to me when I first started blogging. She said, “Look to see the search engine phrases people use to find your blog…” I call these my FAQ’s – Frequently Asked Questions.
In my search engine terms I saw this query today: “No contact with narcissistic mother – ran into her in public.”
All I could think was “Wow, I wonder how THAT went?!”
Running into the N out in public is a chance that we take when we go NC.
Sometimes, no matter how much we try to avoid the places the N frequented, we see him or her when we least expect (or are prepared for) it.
For me, when I finally went NC, it drove the N ‘flipping nuts.’ He sought me out and would show up in places that he knew I frequented. At times, I was beginning to think that he had a GPS attached to my car and was tracking me. You name the place or the errand and I saw the N there. The last straw came the afternoon that I looked up in my rear view mirror and saw him in traffic behind me. I was so done with this stalking freak.
I became, shall I say for lack of a better term, reclusive. Oh, I still went to work, but I changed my ‘territory’ or ‘boundaries’. I would drive 5 miles to a different store. I became familiar with a quaint city to the north of me. In doing so, the ‘surprise encounters’ became less frequent until (with the help of some other people) they ceased all together.
I wish the man or woman who was searching for an answer would stop by my blog and let me know.
I hope it was a quiet meeting with no explosions.
If you have had an encounter with the N out in public after you went No Contact – comment here and let me know how you got through it.
